Jimmy’s Story

High school isn’t easy. Jimmy’s high school experience was especially difficult. Now a student at the United World College in Montezuma, NM, Jimmy went through years of being bullied. Jimmy’s story was part of a radio show put on by YMP and the Santa Fe High School’s Student Wellness Action Team that was created to illuminate the dangers of bullying to help reduce the terrible trend. Please lend your ears to this intensely raw story that details the horror of being bullied to put a stop to the violence.

Bullying and Gender

The Santa Fe High School Student Wellness Team (SWAT) decided to better their community and peers by creating a radio program dedicated to reducing bullying. This beautifully interwoven poem, written and performed by Ariana Maestas with performance help from Alix Monastero is meant to explore the ways people react to bullying differently. Her simple structure and narrative flow makes this piece extremely powerful and intense. Please take the time to learn from the heart about gender differences in bullying situations.

New Mexico SBA Testing

Public education is a huge deal in New Mexico- Aaron Baca, a junior at Capital Highschool, discusses his newest problem with his schooling: a test that decides whether or not he receives a diploma or not. Having struggled through school, Aaron doesn’t believe it is fair that his academic worth should be determined by ONE TEST.

Youth Media Project is honored to have been invited to be a part of a national exploration of youth responding to Marvin Gaye’s famous album What’s Going On. While looking into themes such as war and poverty, our youth will be answering the pivotal question: what’s going on now?

Hosted by none other than the marvelous Yesenia Diaz and Fernando Palacios of Capital High School, this first segment explores issues of immigration, gay rights, family, domestic violence and 2012 consciousness.

In this special Audio Revolution! broadcast, Youth Media Project teamed up with the spectacular SWAT Team at ATC. SWAT stands for the Student Wellness Action Team and is a program at Santa Fe Public Schools. This group from ATC (The Academy of Technology and the Classics) decided they wanted to better the lives of their peers by creating a powerful, moving and honest show about parent teen relationships. The show will share new perspectives and new truths about this important relationship and leave you contemplating your own familial life. Enjoy!
