Audio Revolution! City Of Dreamers

CODradioad2City of Dreamers explores the lives of young people and immigrant families from Santa Fe’s South Side. First presented live, on stage at the Lensic Theatre on Mother’s Day, May 8th 2016, the transmedia storytelling event included documentary video, live interviews, spoken word, music performances, audience engagement and more. Littleglobe youth-producers now present City of Dreamers as a three part radio show.

City of Dreamers focuses on the boundaries that deeply impact Santa Fe and its South Side community: stories about border crossing, stories of obtaining legal paperwork and joining Santa Fe’s working population, stories about the hardships of being an undocumented family in Santa Fe, stories about heroes and advocates, and stories about being the first to graduate from high school and go to college.

Through a variety of storytelling methods, City of Dreamers brings clarity and attention to the thriving and rich cultural world that is Santa Fe’s diverse South Side and challenges the Santa Fe community’s negative preconceptions about our families and schools.

City of Dreamers is the culmination of work by more than 100 students from across Santa Fe working with artists from Littleglobe and Littleglobe’s Youth Media project, Capital High School, Communities in Schools, and ¡Youthworks!–plus Estevan Rael-Galvez of Culture Connects, the KSFR News Team, and Allegra Love with other advocates from the Santa Fe Dreamers Project.

Audio Revolution! The After School Special – Live from YxYF 2015

YMPyxyf_TheAfterSchoolSpecial_logoOn the evening of April 16 Youth Media Project held a live radio broadcast at Warehouse 21 in Santa Fe, New Mexico during Youth X Youth Fest 2015.  As a follow up to Face The Fe (which aired in December of 2014) YMP wanted to get the microphone in front of more youth voices to hone in on the many youth perspectives alive in Santa Fe today.  So we started to ask the simple question, “What is it like to be young in Santa Fe?”.  The resulting two shows, The After School Special – Part 1 and 2, offer two very different platforms in which youth convey their ideas about what is important to them in their home town of Santa Fe, New Mexico.  Part 1 is a multimedia listening event, blending audio and video, prerecorded and live performances, into one program that is now adapted for radio.  Part 2 features a live panel of local Santa Fe professionals and youth discussing a variety of topics that rose to the surface in the first part of the show.  Curious to know more?  Then sit back, relax and listen up!
