Audio Revolution: Face The Fe

YMP Fall 2014 Interns

In this edition of Audio Revolution! Youth Media Project interns explore their place within Santa Fe today.  Amid growing concern in the Santa Fe community that young people are leaving the city at a rapid rate, YMP interns consider both the old and new aspects of the historic arts and culture mecca, exploring social, natural and personal challenges of living in the high desert town.  We will hear stories of why young people have moved to Santa Fe, what they have found here, and what they have not.  Our youth media makers invite you to listen up and Face The Fe!

In this episode of Audio Revolution, the third in Youth Media Project’s Facing Poverty series, students reflect on their own personal experiences of poverty. Hosts Savannah Chapman and Chloe Espinosa lead listeners through a variety of narratives and interviews set both in Santa Fe and abroad. One student describes how 9/11 caused her family to transition from poor to homeless when she was growing up in New York. Another student explores the challenges of being homeless in Santa Fe and connects listeners to local organizations that offer support to people living on the streets.
