The Santa Fe High School Student Wellness Team (SWAT) decided to better their community and peers by creating a radio program dedicated to reducing bullying. This beautifully interwoven poem, written and performed by Ariana Maestas with performance help from Alix Monastero is meant to explore the ways people react to bullying differently. Her simple structure and narrative flow makes this piece extremely powerful and intense. Please take the time to learn from the heart about gender differences in bullying situations.
As part of an Audio Revolution! show about bullying created by Santa Fe High School’s Student Wellness Action Team (SWAT), this radio drama is meant to illuminate the dangers of cyberbullying. Created by a group of students from the Academy of Technology and the Classics, the radio drama focuses on the abusive language is commonly part of bullying over the internet. Because of its extreme popularity, Facebook is a main site for cyberbullying and is the site of interaction in this very informative, creative and palpable expose on the dangers of this new form of bullying.
Youth Media Project and SWAT members from Santa Fe High and Capshaw Middle School have come together to produce an Audio Revolution! show focusing on bullying. The show features personal narratives from students experiencing bullying, an interview with a bullying specialist, a radio drama about cyberbullying and much more! Global Leadership Forum brought together 30 youth leaders from 15 countries “to make education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.” Part of the GLF training (www.uwc-usa.org/glf) involved 6 international teams learning how to create broadcast-quality digital media. Here is the work of one team from Argentina, China, Japan, Tanzania, and the United States. The piece is entitled Time Travelers.

“Stressing” is one of Gabriel Rima’s regular Audio Revolution! segment intended to empower and encourage listeners to think critically and never stop growing entitled, Seeds of Sound. This installment imparts simple and many times overlooked reasons and ways to relieve stress from people’s lives. Gabriel’s Seeds of Sound might be youth-produced but his words can touch people from any walk of life.

We’ll investigate the busy lives of teens and what they do to cope with the stress, anxiety and depression that is ever-present in high schools and colleges today.
